Athletics

…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…

Hebrews 12:1-2

Athletics and physical education are an integral part of the life of Discovery School students. We are committed to competition that is consistent with the biblical and educational goals of teamwork, servant leadership, sportsmanship, discipline and determination. Discovery School celebrates the Christ-like virtues that competition can instill, such as selflessness, sacrifice, servant leadership, teamwork, and perseverance. Discovery School recognizes that success in these areas will ultimately produce godly results.

Our Coaches

COACH ENOCK

My name is BWENGENUGUSENGA Enock. I help students with sports at the Discovery School.  I was born 15th June, 1994 in Bujumbura. Since I was a small boy, I have loved football. When I was 10 years old, my parents registered me in a football school called “Nile Olympic School” because they saw in me a talent for football.  Later, when I was 17, I was chosen to play in the 2nd division. It was my first time to plan in the national Stadium and God helped me.  I was proclaimed to be the best in making many goals, 12 goals. Then I was selected to be on the under 18 national team and we went to play in Kenya for the east African competition and we won and got a CUP for the country!

Throughout my studies my school used me in different inter-school competitions, and my school won many times. I used to go to Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya to play in tournaments, and I even stayed a while in Kenya and was invited to try out for a first division team, Nairobi City Star, but I needed to go home to my own country.  Next, I played on another team in Burundi’s 1st division which was called “Inter Star”.  I love helping Discovery School students learn to enjoy and succeed at sports.
