JESSE AND JOY JOHNSON: Superintendent (Jesse) and Academic Director (Joy)

Jesse grew up in Burundi and attended secondary school at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya.  He graduated from Wheaton College in 2000 with a degree in English Literature.  He received his Master’s in Christian Thought from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2006.  Joy grew up in Liberia and Ethiopia.  She also attended Rift Valley Academy, and then graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Wheaton College in 2001.  They moved to Burundi in 2006 and opened Discovery School in the fall of 2008.  

At Discovery School Burundi; Jesse is the Superintendent and Joy is the Academic Director.

 

NAHISHAKIYE LUCIEN : Main campus Director of Administration and Finance; Acting Vice Superintendent

  Lucien Nahishakiye is from Matongo in Kayanza province.  He attended primary and secondary school in Matongo and trained to become a teacher.  Then he got an opportunity to go to Kenya, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education from Scott Theological College.  He is pursuing his masters in EDUCATIONAL  LEADERSHIP from HOPE AFRICA UNIVERSITY.

Lucien is the Director of Administration and Finance at the main campus, as well as the Acting Vice Superintendent.

NDIKUMANA PATRICK : Campus Director for Kanyosha and Kinindo campuses

Patrick Ndikumana was born on june 15, 1984 in Bujumbura City, Ntahangwa Commune, Kamenge Zone.

He is married to NSHIMIRIMANA Rachel since December 17, 2016.

Patrick finished Primary School at Gasenyi in Gihosha Zone, achieved  High School with a diploma in Economics at Tanganyika Lycee in Bujumbura. A Bachelor Degree was successfully achieved by Patrick at the HOPE AFRICA UNIVERSITY in BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION and ECONOMICS. He has a masters in EDUCATIONAL  LEADERSHIP from HOPE AFRICA UNIVERSITY.

Religion:

Patrick grew up in Roman Catholic Church but Received later Jesus Christ in December 1999 from Kigobe Emmanuel Church.

Work:

Employed at Discovery School Burundi;

From August 2009 to September 2010, He worked as a pre school teacher.

2010-2013 as Elementary Teacher and Head Teacher

September 2013-2018 as Vice Academic Principal and Dean of Studies.

He currently serving as the Campus Director for Kanyosha and Kinindo.

NIYONKURU ALICE: Vice Director of Academics

Alice was born and grew up in Ngara, Bubanza commune in Bubanza province in Burundi. 

She attended Maranatha Lycee of Kivoga.  For her secondary school, she studied the Scientifique B section foloowed by a training in teaching methodologies in Kigoma, Tanzania.  

She taught two school years in Tanzania (post-primary, mainly math and physics).  She has a degree in Computer Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.

She taught at Akilah Institute for women, after a professional development that has really sharpened her as far as learner-centered methods are concerned. She taught Information Technology there, and she also worked as a consultant as a maintenance agent in the same institution.  

Alice is married and is a mother of 3 girls and 1 boy!

This is Alice's third year at Discovery School.  The taught math and sciences the first two years.  She is currently our Vice Director of Academics.

NDIKUMANA EZEKIEL: Dean of Discipline

Ezekiel was born in Bujumbura on June 2, 1986.  He grew up in Kirombwe. 

He has a degree from University of Burundi in the Department of History's option of Political Science and Administration.  He is currently working on a master's degree in Theology at International Leadership University.

He is the Dean of Discipline at Discovery School.

NSENGIYUMA GERARD: Logistics Coordinator

Gérard NSENGIYUMVA was born on November 10, 1987 in a small village of CASHI in Bugarama commune, Rumonge Province , Western Burundi, near the lake Tanganyika.
He and grew up in a cultivatory and fishing family.
He is the sixth child among the nine children of Léopold NDINZEMENSHI ( Victim of ethnical crisis in 1994 ) and Nathalie BUGOMA .


Though his father died while he was 7 years old, his mother had worked very
hard to educate him;
Primary school at Mugendo, Cashi, kabezi, Magara and Ruziba ( 1997-2003)
High School at Communal High School of Muhuta ( 2003-2009)
Public University of Burundi in Faculty of Arts and social sciences (2010-2014)


In 2015, he was employed at Discovery School as a teacher, then in 2016-2017 He joined the administration staff of that school as 2nd assistant to the academic director at the same time as a responsible of the school cyber .

 

He is currently the Logistics Coordinator of the main campus.

Marital Status: Gérard NSENGIYUMVA is married to Gérardine  SINIREMERA and has one male child Jessy NSENGIYUMVA.

Religion: Christian, he received Jesus Christ as his savior in 2000 ,
in 2005 he became a youth representative and teacher of little children in Sunday School in Emmanuel Church at CASHI, in 2006 He became a deacon, in 2017, one of the leaders of Emmanuel Church at CASHI.

NTIRANYIBAGIRA ANNOCIATE: Accountant

With Her Degree in Management Computer Science at the UNIVERSITE LUMIERE DE BUJUMBURA, Annociate began teaching at Discovery School in 2013-2014 school year.

She is actually the accountant as she pursues her masters in Business Administration.

BANDYANTWENGA ESPERENCE : Assistant Accountant

Born in GISHINGANO on October 4, 1978, Esperence is married.

Sudies:

Primary School at Kigobe

secondary School at Lycee NGAGARA and achieved her studies at INSTITUT SUPERIEUR DE CONTROLE DE GESTION (ISCG).

She is the assistant accountant at Discovery School.

BAYISHIME CHRISTELLA: Secretary

Christella was born the 27th of July, 1987.

She attended primary school at Gihosha, and secondary school at Lycee St. Gabriel.

She received her degree from Hope Africa University.

She is currently serving as secretary.
