Spiritual Life
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. - Colossians 2:6-7
Members of the Discovery School family can deepen their spiritual roots...
... in the classroom
Each preschool and primary class has a daily Bible lesson and prayer time. Middle school students have Bible class twice each week, and high school students have Bible class every day on alternate weeks. A biblical-worldview is taught in each content area. Students are taught to think “biblically” in all academic disciplines. God’s Word is key component to this way of thinking. Faculty and staff spend time getting to know the students. This takes time but the relationships that are built help the teachers get to know their students academically and spiritually. Trust is built and teachers are able to communicate with the students on a deeper spiritual level.
... in chapel and choir
All classes have chapel once a month. Some time is spent in worship and then there is a short message. Once a trimester, students gather in larger groups (primary and secondary) for a special Thanksgiving and Praise Chapel.
Students in middle school and high school may choose to join the Discovery School’s choir. The choir serves as a worship team during monthly chapels, and practices weekly during club time on Fridays.
... in one on one prayer times & small groups
Our chaplain takes time to pray with and counsel each student. Secondary students may choose to sign up for Bible Club, join the school’s Evangelism Team, or become part of the Chapel Leadership Team.
